Candy AI combines companion chat, visual characters and generated media in a subscription product. The buying question is not merely whether the monthly plan includes unlimited messages: the provider’s help centre says paid accounts also receive 100 tokens each month, and those tokens can be spent on images, voice and video. A chat-heavy user and an image-heavy user may therefore face very different effective costs.

What the subscription actually unlocks

Candy AI’s support documentation lists unlimited text messaging for paid accounts and a monthly allocation of 100 tokens. It identifies image generation, video conversion, custom AI creation, voice-message playback, beta calls and certain private-content packs as token-consuming activities. That means a page advertising "unlimited" conversation should not be read as a promise of unlimited media generation.

The service makes most sense when you want to create or choose a visual fictional companion and use the same character in text and media. If you are interested mainly in conversational memory or detailed editable long-term facts, compare Nomi or Nectar before choosing Candy primarily because its image previews look appealing.

The 100-token budget: an honest way to calculate it

An annual subscription can still provide tokens monthly rather than as one big yearly balance: Candy’s help centre states that annual subscribers receive 100 tokens on the monthly anniversary of registration. The amount of media this buys depends on the displayed per-action token charge. We have not independently verified a stable, public price per image or per minute of calling across all account configurations, so any fixed "100 tokens = 100 images" claim would be misleading.

Use a small calculation at the point of purchase: if the interface quotes T tokens for the image option you want, 100 / T is the maximum number of those actions before considering other token spending, rounding down to a whole action. For example, at an illustrative 8 tokens per image, the included allocation would allow only 12 complete images, with four tokens left. Eight is an illustration, not a verified Candy rate. Compare the rate shown for video and voice separately because a conversion may be charged differently.

Action What the official material confirms What to check in your account
Text chat Paid membership advertises unlimited chatting Whether any model or fair-use condition applies
Images and video Tokens are spent on eligible media actions Per-generation token quote and failed-job handling
Voice and beta calls Tokens can be required Per-message or per-minute spend before recording
Custom companion The token system can apply Whether creation is an extra charge in your plan

Published subscription examples — not a UK checkout quote

On the official page checked on 26 October 2026, Candy shows a US-dollar annual option of $47.88 charged for 12 months ($3.99 per month as an equivalent), a quarterly option of $26.97 per three months ($8.99 equivalent), and a monthly promotion of $9.99 for the first month followed by $13.99 each month. These are provider-displayed USD examples, not GBP figures or a UK purchase test. Local taxes and availability can change. A 12-month offer saves on the published equivalent rate but takes a larger sum up front and renews annually.

Paying from the UK

Candy’s public subscription page shows different contract lengths and automatically renewing offers, but promotional rates and country-level taxes may vary. The amount on an annual plan can be charged for the full year up front despite being displayed as a lower monthly equivalent. Compare the first charge, next renewal, and tokens per month as separate values. For a UK card, ask whether the final price is GBP or another currency and whether the payment provider adds a conversion fee.

Do not pay a year’s fee merely because the equivalent monthly figure looks low. Try the free preview where available and inspect how quickly your preferred media action consumes tokens. Check the provider’s cancellation and refund terms in the account checkout; we did not complete a test cancellation or purchase.

Privacy and decision

Visual companions can encourage users to upload real photos or describe other people. Use invented identities and do not upload anyone’s image without consent. Also consider whether you want images at all: if your primary goal is everyday dialogue, much of Candy’s appeal may be unnecessary. Our recommendation is to test the token budget first, then the fictional character consistency across a few conversations, and only then consider a paid period. OurDream is a useful comparison if your decision is mainly about subscription-plus-credit spending rather than character chat alone.
